Abstract
The aim of this study is developing and validating the Generative Artificial Intelligence Attitude Scale-EFL Teachers Form (GenAIAS-TF) to assess EFL teachers' attitudes towards GenAI. The research involved three independent samples of EFL teachers in T & uuml;rkiye, with data collected through scales and analyzed using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. The final scale, comprising 25 items, was categorized into four factors: Learning/utility, enjoyment, usefulness, and interest. The scale demonstrated good psychometric properties, including satisfactory convergent and discriminant validity, internal consistency, and measurement invariance across genders. The study revealed that EFL teachers' attitudes towards GenAI significantly and positively correlated to their daily internet usage hours and perceived AI knowledge while there was a significant and negative correlation between EFL teachers' attitudes and their age. The findings also indicated no significant gender differences in attitudes of EFL teachers towards GenAI. This research adds to the expanding literature on the use of GenAI in language education and provides practical insights for incorporating GenAI into language learning and teaching.
