BACKGROUND: This study was conducted to evaluate the problems experienced by nursing students who were studying during the COVID-19 epidemic and their attitudes towards the profession.,METHODS: This research is a descriptive and cross-sectional study. The universe of the research consisted of all nursing students studying at a state university in the Western Black Sea Region of Turkiye. It was aimed to reach the whole universe. The sample of the study consisted of 446 students who agreed to participate in the study. "Introductory information form," "COVID-19 Questionnaire" and "Attitude Scale for Nursing Profession" (ASNP) were used to collect the data. The analysis of data conformity of continuous variables to normal distribution was examined by Kolmogrow-Smirnov Test. Mann-Whitney U Test was used to compare quantitative data. The results were evaluated within the 95% confidence interval and the P<0.05 value was considered significant.,RESULTS: It was determined that 67.5% students experienced stress, tension and anxiety due to Coronavirus. It was found that the mean ASNP scale score of nursing students was 160.12 +/- 22.62 (72-194) and the mean scale scores of nursing students who did not feel alienated from the profession and did not think of quitting their jobs during the pandemic were significantly higher than the other group (P<0.05). It was observed that the mean ASNP scale scores of nursing students willing to work in pandemic hospitals were significantly higher than those who were unwilling (P<0.05).,CONCLUSIONS: It was determined that the mean ASNP total score was high, and the period of pandemic did not affect the students' attitudes towards the profession negatively. It was detected that nursing students did not think of quitting their jobs, did not feel alienated from the profession in this period and most of them were willing to work in pandemic hospitals.
