Abstract

Calculation of plane angles and coordinates calculated in at least two full series direction measurements from points whose coordinates are known (at least four points) from a point whose coordinates are unknown (the point where direction measurements are made) in a two-dimensional (2D) vertical coordinate system defined on the earth is called a resection problem. The coordinates of one, two, three or multiple points can be calculated by the resection method. Resection methods used today are: Collins, Kaestner, Delambre, Cassini, Ansermet and Akarsu methods. Determination of point location coordinates with global positioning systems with a receiver has become even more important because it is based on the resection method. In this study, the solution of the resection problem with exterior angles and the theoretical explanations of its solution with Collins and Akarsu methods are given. In addition, with a numerical application, the standard deviations of the exact coordinates of the cut-off point calculated by the Collins method If = & MNPLUS;2,7 ,= & MNPLUS;11,4 ; = & MNPLUS;1,4 , = & MNPLUS;1,2 in the Akarsu solution method; Values of were obtained. The values obtained by both solution methods are interpreted in the findings and discussion section.
